Dismal rate of conviction lets trafficking go on

The research, carried out by analysing case documents, related to 198 human trafficking cases, found that less than 1% of the accused were convicted with punishments ranging between five and seven years of imprisonment. Ten have been acquitted due to lack of evidence and 68 were granted bail. In cases linked to five traffickers, the investigations have been going on for over a decade.
